A dozen Queen Anne Stakes runners have been declared for the 2023 edition of the traditional Royal Ascot curtain raiser. Two multiple Group 1 winners in Modern Games and Inspiral clash on the straight mile come Tuesday, 20 June with the pair duking it out for favouritism and the title of best older miler in the British Isles.

Which of the Queen Anne Stakes Runners Will Go Off as Favourite?
Given that she receives weight all-round and has betting public darling Frankie Dettori in the saddle, Inspiral has been very popular in the Queen Anne Stakes betting in recent days. It’ll be his last chance of riding winners at the Royal meeting too with the beloved Italian set to retire from riding at the end of this year.
Up against Inspiral, however, is a consistent performer in fellow four-year-old Modern Games. Unlike the filly, the Godolphin colt was beaten on his sole start at Ascot in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes towards the end of last season. Modern Games has done well in big races overseas, however, and brings international form lines to the table.
It could go either way with on-course and online bookies as to which of the Queen Anne Stakes runners is sent off favourite. Modern Games does have owner-stable companion Native Trail for company in the race, but he’s too classy to be used as a mere pacemaker.
