Todd Boehly is eyeing up yet another big transfer, with Chelsea targeting a move for Wolves midfielder, Matheus Nunes. Liverpool are also in the running but the London side may try and hijack another deal.

Chelsea shocked a lot of people with the £88m signing of Mykhailo Mudryk, after it appeared he was almost certain to join Premier League leaders, Arsenal. The Gunners managed to find an alternative through Leandro Trossard, who made his debut in their 3-2 victory over Manchester United.

This transfer would be no different, however it is not Arsenal this time, instead Liverpool are the other contenders for Nunes. The Portugal international is on Liverpool’s radar, but he cannot leave Wolverhampton in January as he has already played for two clubs this season.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are interested in signing Nunes meaning Liverpool could struggle to compete for his signature in the summer, as Boehly has already spent just under £500m. Both teams are in poor form this season, with Champions League qualification looking like a difficult task for both sides with Liverpool being 3/1 and Chelsea are 10/1, according to UK betting sites.

Nunes has shown real quality since joining Wolves, already playing 17 times in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has missed two games in all competitions, highlighting how pivotal he is for Julen Lopetegui, while also having International prowess with 11 caps for Portugal.
