The final day of the 2023 York Ebor Festival is here, In turn, our SportsLens tipster has a tasty fancy in the opening ITV race of the afternoon. The first selection in our York Lucky 15 tips on Saturday is EL DRAMA. Karl Burke’s charge ran well at Haydock two weeks ago, on his first run since switching from Roger Varain.
El Drama is currently the second favourite with the best horse racing betting apps, looking to win for the first time since Chester back in 2021. However, the five-year-old has had several strong runs since then, including at Newmarket and Goodwood.
The Irish chestnut runs off a mark of 9st 7lb, the same weight as his strong ruck at Haydock last time out. Favourite Nostrum could take some beating, but El Drama has all the tools to win this one. Came sixth in this race two years ago but has massively improved since then.
3:00pm – Sky Bet City of York Stakes Group 2 7f ITV: KINROSS @ 6/4
KINROSS is the second selection in our York Lucky 15 Tips on Saturday after three solid runs to start his career. Jockey Frankie Dettori is familiar with this horse, with the pair having won at Glorious Goodwood last time out, not to mention winning this race 12 months ago.
The Ralph Beckett-trained six-year-old is the 6/4 betting favourite with the best horse racing betting sites, and it is clear to see why. Kinross has also won at Ascot and Doncaster in the last year, and looks the one to beat here in the City of York Stakes.
If Frankie Dettori can get him going, he should have too much for the rest of the field. a C&D winner, carrying 9st 8lb – the same weight he carried last year when winning by over a length.

3:35pm Sky Bet Ebor Heritage Handicap 1m6f ITV: SWEET WILLIAM @ 10/3
Next up on our Lucky 15 is a liking in the featured race of the entire York Ebor Festival – the Ebor Handicap. SWEET WILLIAM for John & Thady Gosden is the outright favourite to win the 1m6f handicap and is our third selection for Saturday’s York Lucky 15.
The four-year-old comes here fresh off the back of a hat-trick of wins. This includes an emphatic win at Glorious Goodwood a few weeks ago, as well as a win at Newbury and Doncaster in July at a canter. Sweet William has three runner-up finishes, followed by three straight victories.
The gelding has won over this distance before, as we saw at Goodwood in the Summer Handicap. Is down 4lb from his last run, carrying 9st 2lb on Saturday afternoon in the Ebor Handicap. Should go really well and is rightfully the favourite. If he’s at his best and jockey Robert Halvin gives him a good ride, he should romp home here in first place.
4:10pm Sky Bet Constantine Stakes Heritage Handicap 6f ITV: ABERAMA GOLD @ 15/2
Completing our York Lucky 15 tips on Saturday is ABERAMA GOLD. This David O’Meara-trained gelding won impressively at Goodwood last time out, as well as winning here at York just last month over the six furlong distance – the same task he faces today.
There is some huge value in backing Aberama Gold at odds of 15/2 with the best UK sports betting sites. The win at Glorious Goodwood last time out in the Stewards’ Cup was emphatic. The six-year-old travelled strongly before leading one furlong out, keeping on well on the run in.
If he can replicate this run, under jockey Mark Winn (3lb penalty), he has every chance of making it a hat-trick of victories. Carries a bit more weight than he has in his last two victories, but is more than capable of a win here in the Constantine Stakes Handicap.
