Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew successfully opposed 30-100f SOUTHOFTHEBORDER at Sandown on Friday and has three recommended bets/trades  on Saturday, January 27th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

CHELTENHAM JOCKEYS

JAMES BOWEN, whose six rides include short-priced favourite JONBON (2.25) will be popular with buyers in the Spreadex CHELTENHAM JOCKEYS market on Trials Day but I’m going to go the other way and sell him. Nicky Henderson is going through a quiet spell, with just one winner from his last 28 runners, and plenty of the beaten horses were very short prices, including 30-100 favourite Southoftheborder who was beaten when I fielded against him at Sandown yesterday. JONBON could be vulnerable if Editeur Du Gite gets away from him, as he did when winning the same race here last year and SIR GINO (12.05), another shortie, is going to struggle to beat Burdett Road in the opener.

Recommendation: Sell JAMES BOWEN in Cheltenham Jockeys

UTTOXETER 12.48

Dual point winner PRESENT FAIR looked sure to appreciate a trip over hurdles but struggled to last home over distances of about 2m4f in his first two starts under rules last term, before an improved effort in a 2m handicap hurdle at Wetherby in which he finished a 25-1 fourth of 17 behind Etalon. He began this season in similar vein, struggling to see it out over 2m4f/2m5f before last month’s 2m heavy-ground win at Uttoxeter when sent off at 28-1. He failed to follow u-p at Catterick last time but did well to finish a five-length fourth after racing on the inside of the track where the ground was clearly softer and can bounce back now returned to the scene of his latest success. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back PRESENT FAIR in Uttoxeter 12.48

DONCASTER 12.55

I want to oppose early favourite CALL OF THE WILD in this 2m3.5f handicap hurdle as Alan King has a terrible record on Saturdays, especially with his hurdlers in the peak jumps season (November to May), scoring with only 28 of the 297 qualifiers since 2018 (9.4% strike-rate) for a loss of £176.53 to a £1 level stake at SP (-59.4% on turnover). All nine owned by J P McManus were beaten, often at short odds. With Nicky Henderson also quiet (one winner from his last 28 runners at the time of writing) it could also be worth opposing NO ORDINARY JOE (another McManus-owned runner), while Sue Smith’s yard is quiet, and her RICH SPIRIT could prove vulnerable. The best alternative could be the Fergal O’Brien-trained PUNCTUATION, winner of five of his 12 starts over timber. The seven-year-old could only finish a 20-length eight of 15 on his latest outing but that was in the Greatwood a Cheltenham, a race that is working out well. Unusually on soft ground at Cheltenham, the inside of the track was fastest that day, but Punctuation was wide throughout on the slowest part of the track, the same route taken by fourth-placed Sonigino who won next time out. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back PUNCTUATION in Doncaster 12.55
