LEOPARDSTOWN 5.05

SOLDARO (system – Gavin Cromwell, handicap chase debut, Class 4 or lower)

Gavin Cromwell has a fine record with handicap chase debutants in Class 4 or lower company, scoring with 13 of the 47 qualifiers (27.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £41.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. SOLDARO was in good form at this time last year, landing a maiden hurdle at Clonmel on March 2nd before scoring on her handicap hurdle debut at Downpatrick on April 2nd. She hasn’t shown a huge amount in six starts over fences, but all came in beginners’ chase company, and she might do better now switched to handicap company.

WOLVERHAMPTON 6.30

MISS ANYA (system – Kodi Bear, Wolverhampton, 5f-7f only)

Progeny of the sire Kodi Bear have a 16 from 98 record when running over 7f or shorter on Wolverhampton’s Tapeta surface and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £57.48 to a £1 level stake at SP. The Richard Hughes-trained MISS ANYA is a seven-race maiden but only went down by a short head over 5f here on her penultimate start and, though only fifth over the same course and distance in first-time cheekpieces on her latest outing, she was always playing catch-up under patient tactics after an awkward start. The return to 6f won’t hurt and she can break her duck.

WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30

UNICO (system – Marco Botti, all-weather handicappers, fresh, 3-4yos)

Marco Botti does well with his three and four-year-old handicappers on the all-weather, especially those running fresh (after a break of at least 40 days). Since the spring of 2016, he’s scored with 49 of the 258 qualifiers (19% strike-rate) for a profit of £113.28 to a £1 level stake at SP. He went close with Beauty Generation on this angle at Kempton on Saturday night (second by a neck at 17-2) and UNICO looks interesting on her all-weather handicap debut.
