RUBIE DE ORO (system – Marco Botti, all-weather handicappers, 3-4yos, fresh)
Marco Botti has a good record in all-weather handicaps, especially with runners aged three or four who had been rested for at least 40 days. He’s scored with 50 of the 271 qualifiers (18.5% strike-rate) since the spring of 2016 for a profit of £104.78 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 32.99, A/E = 1.52). RUBIO DE ORO is a seven-race maiden but has placed in all three starts since stepped up to today’s 1m4f trip and should be thereabouts once more.
WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30
ORIENTAL SPIRIT (system – Stuart Kittow, early-season Flat runners, fresh)
Stuart Kittow does well with his Flat runners (turf or all-weather) in April/May, with those returning from a break of at least 150 days landing 18 of their 98 starts since 2013 for a profit of £47.75 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 11.1, A/E = 1.62). ORIENTAL SPIRIT has scored just once from 17 starts – on Kempton’s Polytrack – but finished a solid fourth at Southwell on his sole previous Tapeta assignment and could be worth chancing on his first start since early November.
