World Darts Championship Day 9 Tips

2:45pm – Jonny Clayton vs Steve Lennon: Clayton To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 13/5

Night nine of the 2024 World Darts Championship kicks off with Jonny Clayton taking on Steve Lennon for a spot in the third round.

Clayton will be the first to admit that he hasn’t enjoyed the best of years, but it hasn’t stopped ‘The Ferret’ from recording a number of impressive displays including winning the World Cup with Wales alongside Gerwyn Price and finishing as runner-up at the World Matchplay.

He made the quarter-finals here last year before being knocked out by Dimitri van den Bergh and if he plays to the standard we know he’s capable of, Steve Lennon shouldn’t present much of a challenge.

Clayton is a four-time major winner and despite slightly tailing off after a historic year in 2021, he has so much more left in the tank and undoubtedly remains one of the sport’s top players.

7:15pm – Ryan Searle vs Tomoya Goto: Searle To Win & Highest Checkout @ 4/6

Ryan Searle gets his World Championship campaign underway to begin the evening session on Saturday night, taking on Tomoya Goto for a place in the third round of the tournament.

‘Heavy Metal’ is as short as 50/1 to win the World Championship according to the best new UK betting sites. He’s made the last 16 here at Alexandra Palace on three occasions in 2019, 2021 and 2022.

Searle’s best major showing this year was a quarter-final finish at the World Matchplay alongside reaching the last 16 of the Grand Slam, leaving him in 20th place on the Order of Merit.

Goto impressed in the first round to send Ian White packing, but Searle is a completely different opponent and we’re backing the Englishman to win with the highest checkout of the match.

The final game of the night sees reigning World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall go up against Ricky Evans in the second round.

Aspinall added his second major earlier this year in Blackpool following success at the UK Open in 2019. He’s been a consistently impressive player at Alexandra Palace over the years, reaching the semi-final in consecutive years from 2019-20.

This game is a mismatch and one that Aspinall should take advantage of early doors. Evans is an exciting, talented player who can hit maximums for fun so we’ve opted to dodge the match treble for this one.
