  • Lampard sacked after Everton defeat to West Ham
  • Marcelo Bielsa new favourite after influx of betting
  • Sean Dyche also in the running according to odds
  • Former Everton player Wayne Rooney in the mix
  • Everton last suffered relegation from the top-flight in 1951

The rumour mill is in overdrive around Merseyside at the moment with Everton boss Frank Lampard coming under further fire after his side lost again at the weekend – this time away at one of Lampard’s former playing clubs West Ham 2-0.

That defeat has now seen the Toffees without a win from their last ten matches and as a result Lampard has lost his job.

During that run of ten matches without a win, Everton were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United in the Third Round and have slumped to joint bottom of the Premier League table on just 15 points – level with Southampton.

With this dire run, it’s no shock the bookmakers have been busy updating their ‘Next Everton Manager’ betting odds and with this unique market the prices can be fast-moving, with new candidates popping up and newspaper rumours flying about all over the place.

So, SportsLens.com have hired an official betting trader to compile the odds on the next Everton manager market, before they are released by the UK bookmakers.

Marcelo Bielsa Takes Over From Sean Dyche As Favourite

Former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has been popular in the betting since Lampard’s sacking at 13/8. The veteran Argentine (67) has been out of a job since getting the boot by Leeds United in 2022, but despite getting his marching orders from The Whites, you feel his reputation is still solid having kept them from the Premier League drop over the last few seasons.

Sacked by Burnley back in April 2022, Sean Dyche has been biding his time since but has emerged this week as a leading contender for the next Everton manager’s job.

The 51 year-old is expected to be a decent fit for the Toffees based on their number one priority this season being survival.

Dyche, who has been backed into 2/1 second-favourite for the Everton managers job, showed at Burnley that he’s capable of holding out in the English top-flight and with experience of managing in the league, the Goodison board are more likely to opt for a head man that is familiar with the surroudings, rather than take a chance on a newbie.

Wayne Rooney, who is currently in charge is Washington-based US side D.C United can be backed at 12/1 for the next Everton manager’s job. The former Goodison Park player had two decent spells at the club back in 2017/18 and, of course, started his career at Everton when shooting to fame as a teenager back in 2002-04, before making a big-money move to Manchester United.

The ex-Derby County manager is certainly a fan favourite at Everton, but in their current position and Rooney’s lack of experience (has never managed in the Premier League), he’d be another of the risky options to replace his former England teammate Lampard.

Sam Allardyce is always a name attached to clubs that are in a manager crisis, especially if they are fighting relegation. ‘Big Sam’, who was in charge at Everton between 2017-2018, is on offer at 20/1 to make a return management since leaving West Brom back in 2021.

He steadied the ship during his time at Everton, but with fans generally unhappy with his style of play it would be a big risk for the owners to reach for Allardyce again.

Everton Clinging onto To Their Top-Flight Status

The other added pressure for the Everton board is that the club is one of the longest serving in the English top-flight – the Toffees were last relegated back in the 1950-51 season.

This run makes Everton the second-longest serving club at the top division in English football – remaining longer than the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, with only Arsenal surviving longer than them. The Gunners have been a top-table side since the 1919-20 season.
