Manchester City vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction (17:30 KO)
Following on from a dominant 3-1 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League last-16 on Tuesday, Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad as they return to Premier League action.
The Cityzens have now won 11 games in succession across all competitions, and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches spanning all the way back to early December. This run of form sees them head into the gameweek just two points shy of leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
City left it fairly late for their standards in the 2-0 win over Everton last weekend, as Erling Haaland netted twice in the last 20 minutes to secure the victory when it looked like they may drop two points.
Chelsea meanwhile, were in action against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, whom they defeated 3-1 after trailing 1-0 at the break. Ex-Eagles loanee Conor Gallagher scored twice, his first two of the season in the league, before Enzo Fernandez sealed all three points in the 94th minute.
The Blues have now lost just twice in seven matches across all competitions, and occupy 10th place in the Premier League table. They are just a point behind ninth placed Brighton, and two points behind West Ham and Newcastle who sit in eighth and seventh respectively.
We at SportsLens can’t see past anything other than a victory for the in-form Cityzens. The returns of Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, as well as the goalscoring form of Phil Foden will prove too much for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side in our opinion, which is why we’re backing a 3-0 Manchester City win.
