Much of the talk pre game was around the absence of Marc Guéhi. The defender came off against Brighton and joins Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze on the injury list at Palace.

Following on from recent games, Crystal Palace fans again voiced their concerns over the ownership and leadership at their club. The fans feel the club lack ambition, despite their young and promising team.

Chelsea dominated the first half, controlling the ball throughout the half. They completed 420 passes, but for all their possession, they failed to have a shot on target.

It was Palace who would go into the break with the lead. Jefferson Lerma scored his first goal for the club, getting off the mark with a spectacular effort.

Chelsea came out for the second half fast. Within two minutes, they’d scored an equaliser when Conor Gallagher smashed the ball home. It was the Chelsea midfielder’s first Premier League goal of the season.

Despite the fast start to the second half from Chelsea, Palace stayed strong and carried their own threat. Adam Wharton, making his first Premier League start since joining from Blackburn, impressed in the middle of the park for Palace.

Crystal Palace looked like they were on course for a point in Roy Hodgson’s 200th Premier League game in charge of them, but their hopes were crushed in added time.

Gallagher made it two Premier League goals for this season when he found the net after Cole Palmer picked him out on the edge of the box.

With Palace pushing for a leveller, Chelsea broke with Palmer, he found Enzo Fernández, who sat the defender down and scored Chelsea’s third.

For Chelsea, they’re now 10th, just two points off Newcastle United in 7th. It looks as if Mauricio Pochettino’s men are finally starting to click, but Chelsea fans will still be cautious given their team’s up-and-down form this season. Next for them is Manchester City away live on Sky Sports on Saturday at 5:30pm.

For Crystal Palace, more frustration for their fans despite a solid display for 89 minutes.  The two goals in added time mean they’re five points above the drop zone. Next up for them is a crucial clash against Everton, who currently sit 18th.
