Andy Newton’s ‘LAY OF THE DAY’ Horse Racing Tip On Saturday: 3:35pm Newcastle – GOLD AURA
The former Richard Hannon-trained mare – GOLD AURA – will be having her tenth career run today, but is also still looking for her first success.
This 4 year-old was last seen running fourth at Chelmsford last month – beaten almost 8 lengths – and despite being back in a handicap today looks a horse with a few issues. She’s hung right in two of her last three races and also pulled hard in the other.
The fact connections are also reaching for the first-time hood is another worry that she’s not the most straight-forward and this headgear replaces the cheekpieces that she worn in her last three races.
Add in that this will be her first run at Newcastle, so the track is an unknown, plus trainer Jack Jones tinkering again with her trip (back to 1m2f here, from 7f) also suggests they don’t really know what her best yardage is.
Overall, the race looks very competitive, which means we’ll have plenty running for us – including CD winners Lochnaver and Explorers Way – and so the maiden Gold Aura is overlooked.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).

You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
