England got their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign under way with an easy 6-2 win over Iran and it was Jude Bellingham that got the opening goal for the Three Lions and in the process he became only the second ever teenager to score at the World Cup Finals for England – can you name the other?
Jude Bellingham Scores Debut England Goal Against Iran
Nineteen year-old Jude Bellingham, who plays his domestic football at Borussia Dortmund in Germany, scored the first goal of England’s 2022 World Cup campaign with a remarkable 6-2 win over Iran and not only was it also Jude Bellingham’s first International goal, but he also became only the second ever teenager to score at the World Cup finals.
It was at the 1998 World Cup Finals in France that Michael Owen became the first teenager to score a goal for the Three Lions at the tournament – joining the likes of Pele (17), Rosas (18) and Lionel Messi (18) as other youngsters to net on football’s biggest stage.
However, with Owen aged 18 years and 190 days, and Jude Bellingham already 19 (29th June), then Owen still holds the record as the youngest.
