ITV Racing On Saturday Comes From Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton – Including The Ascot Chase
The ITV horse racing cameras are spread out over three venues this Saturday (17th Feb, 2024) with the action coming from Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton.
Horse racing fans can look forward to seven races in total on the free-to-air channel, with the first race at 1:50pm from Ascot and the last ITV contest at 3:3pm, also at the Berkshire venue.
The Grade One Ascot Chase (3:35pm) is the feature race on the day as a small but select field line-up for the ÂŁ99k contest (4 entries). The runners include Cheltenham Gold Cup fancy L’Homme Presse, last year’s runner-up Pic D’Orhy, plus the second top-rated in the field Ahoy Senor.
Then at Haydock, the Grand National Trial (3:15pm) and the Rendlesham Hurdle (2:40pm) – both sponsored by Virgin Bet – spearhead a monster eight-race card.
However, don’t be fooled into thinking you’ll see this year’s Grand National winner at Haydock – no horse has ever won both contests. Maybe they should think about a name change.
It’s also been a dire race for the favourites with the best UK betting sites in recent years – with only two winning market leaders in the last 21 years.
Finally, at Wincanton it’s Kingwell Hurdle (2:05pm) day at the Somerset track, where all eyes will be on the Paul Nicholls-trained Rubaud, who has ran into the likes of Lossiemouth and Constitution Hill in recent races.
He should, in theory, find this company a lot easier, but will be facing the two-time winner of this race – Goshen.
