Sky Sports and CBS pundit and analyst Jamie Carragher proclaims Harry Kane as ‘England’s greatest ever striker’.

The Bayern Munich number nine scored a brace on Tuesday night as England beat Italy 3-1. The win secured England’s qualification for Euro 2024, which takes place in Germany next summer.

Italy initially took the lead through former West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca after just 15 minutes. Jude Bellingham won a penalty around the half hour mark, which, following a fairly lengthy VAR review, Kane converted.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford put England in front during the second half, thanks again to some brilliant work by Real Madrid star Bellingham. Kane then sealed the win with a superb solo effort.

After Kane’s second goal, Carragher took to X and proclaimed the former Tottenham man as ‘England’s greatest ever striker’.

The argument does hold weight though. Kane’s double against Italy means he is now on 61 goals for the Three Lions, extending his lead as his country’s all-time record goalscorer.
