England saw off the threat of Italy at Wembley to secure top spot in the group and a place in next year’s Euros. England Euro 2024 winner odds now at 9/2.
Gareth Southgate’s men came into the game knowing no English team had beaten the Italians on home soil since 1977. Not just that, it was the first Wembley meeting since the Euro 2020 final defeat. With most of the starting 11 who played in that game playing in this game, revenge was on the mind.
England, in particular Jude Bellingham, started well, but Italy grew into the game. It was the visitors who opened the scorer. Former West Ham striker, Gianluca Scamacca, opened the scoring for Italy.
Not deterred by the goal, Real Madrid’s Bellingham continued to impress, along with the front three of Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane, and Phil Foden.
Bellingham broke through the defence and was brought down. After a long VAR check, the penalty was confirmed and Kane stepped up to take it. He slotted the ball home, claiming his 60th England goal.

England grew in the second half and thanks again to Bellingham they had another goal. He won a tackle at the edge of England’s box, got onto the ball, beat the Italian defender and found Rashford who smashed the ball home.
With Italy pressing, England killed the game off. Captain Kane stole the ball just inside the Italy half and ran through on goal. Despite the pressure, he easily found the back of the net to kill the game off.
The win has boosted the England Euro 2024 winner odds with their place confirmed.
