Fulham vs Newcastle Preview & Prediction (19:00 KO)

Newcastle United travel down to the English capital to go head-to-head against Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday evening, looking to bounce back after a very poor string of results.

In fact, the Magpies’ sole victory across their last six matches came against their bitter rivals Sunderland in the third round, whom they defeated 3-0 thanks to a Dominic Ballard own-goal and an Alexander Isak brace.

It looked as if they were going to build on that with a huge result against Manchester City in the Premier League a week later, but Kevin De Bruyne’s reintroduction after returning from injury dashed any hope for Eddie Howe’s side as he inspired the Cityzens to a 3-2 comeback victory.

Meanwhile Fulham were in action against local rivals Chelsea, and fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. They followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, seeing them exit the competition after losing 2-1 on aggregate.

Like Newcastle, the Cottagers’ last win came in the FA Cup third round. That was in the form of a narrow 1-0 win over Championship relegation strugglers Rotherham, where Bobby Decordova-Reid’s first half opener was enough to secure passage into the next round.

Based on their recent head-to-head record, we at SportsLens can’t see past anything but a victory for the visitors this weekend. The Magpies have won each of their last four matches against Fulham, most recently besting the West Londoners 3-0 in mid-December.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Newcastle

Fulham vs Newcastle Betting Tips

  • Newcastle To Win @ 5/4
  • Anthony Gordon To Score Anytime @ 12/5
  • Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 4/1

Fulham vs Newcastle Betting Tip 1: Newcastle To Win @ 5/4

Our first tip for your Saturday evening Fulham vs Newcastle FA Cup fourth round bet builder is to back the Magpies to win the match, priced by leading UK betting sites at 5/4.

As previously alluded to, the Magpies have an excellent record in this fixture as of late. Howe’s men have won each of their last four meetings, and have triumphed 4-1, 2-0 and 4-0 on their last three visits to Craven Cottage.

Not only that, but the Tyneside club have been afforded a longer rest than Fulham due to the Cottagers’ involvement in the League Cup semi-final. We expect that a rejuvenated Newcastle side will cause problems for the hosts, as they typically do, and are backing them to advance to the fifth round in doing so.

Fulham vs Newcastle Betting Tip 2: Anthony Gordon To Score Anytime @ 12/5

One player who needed a rest more than most was pacey wide-man Anthony Gordon. The ex-Everton forward has played 2,357 minutes for the Magpies this term, which is the third most within their entire squad and the most among their attacking players.

With two weeks gone since their last game, the 22-year-old has had ample time to recuperate. Coming back refreshed and ready to go, we believe that Gordon’s pace could prove a real problem for Fulham’s back line.

Priced by some of the best football betting sites at 12/5, we’re backing Gordon to return from his break with a bang by scoring at anytime at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
