Roma head to Rotterdam to take on Feyenoord in the first leg of their Europa League knockout round play-off tie on Thursday evening, where they’ll be aiming to return to winning ways after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Inter Milan on Saturday.
That loss was Daniele De Rossi’s first since returning to the club in a managerial capacity, having won his first three Serie A matches against Hellas Verona, Salernitana and Cagliari.
I Giallorossi finished second in their Europa League group, behind Slavia Prague, and less than a month after that was confirmed – Jose Mourinho was sacked after a poor run of form in which his side managed just two victories from six matches across all competitions.
Feyenoord meanwhile, are unbeaten in nine straight competitive matches, and drop down to the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Lazio and Atletico Madrid.
Arne Slot’s side are 10 points adrift of Eredivisie leaders PSV in second place as things stand, and come into European action off the back of a 2-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam last Sunday.
