Manchester City star Erling Haaland has been confirmed to be the cover star for EA Sports FC 24 video game, following a record breaking season in the Premier League.

The Norwegian international stunned the world with his debut season in the Premier League, as he broke the goal-scoring record for a single season – finding the net 36 times.

These goals were pivotal for Pep Guardiola’s side, as the blue half of Manchester won their third consecutive league title and continued their dominance in England.

Goals in the Premier League were not the only talking point for the 22-year-old, as Haaland scored 52 goals in all competitions and guided City to the illustrious treble.

These performances have not gone unnoticed in the footballing industry, as EA Sports are set to make Haaland the cover star for their latest video game, EA Sports FC 24.

For years fans have become accustom to the iconic ‘FIFA’ franchise, as year on year EA Sports would release the most popular football game in the world.

However, after almost three decades of release, the gaming organisation are changing the name and tweaking the format – while making Haaland the face of it all.

The change comes as after EA Sports failed to extend their partnership with world football’s governing body and it has now been revealed it will be called EA Sports FC from 2023.

Gaming fans across the globe are still unsure about the transition, as the exact details are still yet to be confirmed. However, Haaland will be the latest superstar to be on the cover of EA Sports’ leading video game – with the likes of, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi being previous cover stars .

The EA Sports FC 24 release date has been revealed as Friday, September 29, 2023. There will also be seven days of early access available via the Ultimate Edition of EA FC 24, meaning you can technically play a week earlier.
