In the latest England injury news, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope have all withdrawn from the England squad for this month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers

Rashford picked up a knock in United’s FA Cup win on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile Pope suffered an injury in Newcastle’s huge Premier League win on Friday night. As for Mount, he’s been recently recovering from an injury and will stay with Chelsea for the break.

Gareth Southgate included Mount in his squad originally, but Graham Potter confirmed that he won’t be joining up with the squad.

Following the withdrawals, only one player has been replaced. Nick Pope has been replaced by Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster, and could make his first appearance since 2016. An England statement on Monday morning said: “No further replacements are planned and 23 players arrived at St. George’s Park on Monday ahead of fixtures against Italy in Naples on Thursday 23 March and Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday 26 March.”

This international break will see England get their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign underway. They face Italy away on Thursday, and host Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.

Rashford will be the biggest miss for England, with 27 goals and nine assists so far this season. The extent of the Man United star’s injury isn’t yet known. However, he was subbed off on the 83rd minute of their FA Cup win over Fulham, and was seen to be limping.

More England injury news could follow as the week goes on.
