ITV Racing Tips and Trends For Sandown, Chester & Beverley
More ITV racing action this Saturday as the cameras will be showing eight races across Sandown, Chester and Beverley.
At Sandown we’ve four contests to look forward to with the Group 3 Solario Stakes and Atalanta Stakes the features – with the last-named a prize that has been won by trainer Sir Michael Stoute six times in the last 21 years.
Just the one race at Chester, but it’s a decent Listed affair that the Ralph Beckett camp have won for the last two seasons.
Then at Beverley there are two LIVE ITV races that include the William Hill Beverley Bullet – can the Clive Cox-trained Tis Marvellous win it for a third year in-a-row?
You can find out more about the full ITV race schedule below and also our key trends and stats to help you find the winners.

Sandown Horse Racing Tips and Trends
1.50 Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 7f ITV4
Only two past runnings of this race so no trends really to go on. Interesting that both winners came from stall 6 though, so this is a plus for Tough Enough, plus it’s also been a good race for the favourite in its short life span.
Other things to note here is the top record of the William Stone yard at the track – they run Final Watch, while the William Haggas camp also have a fair strike-rate and have Alpha Capture.
- Just 2 previous runnings
- 2/2 – Winning favourites
- 2/2 – Drawn in stall 6
- Trainer William Stone has a 50% overall record at the track
- Trainer William Haggas has a 24% overall record at the track
- Jockey Ryan Moore has a 21% riding at the track
2.25 –Virgin Bet Atalanta Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 1m14y ITV4
This has been a very good race for the Sir Michael Stoute yard – winning 6 of the last 21, including last year with Potapova, who goes again. It’s also a contest that’s been kind to the 3 year-olds in the past – winning 14 of the last 21 runnings, so Coppice, Midnight Mile, Mysterious Love, Nibras Angel, Novus and Queen For You get a plus here.
33% of the last 21 favourites have won too, while note a previous run at Sandown and winning form at Listed of G3 level. Having been highly-tried last time out in the G1 Falmouth, Coppice should find this ease in grade more to her liking
- 17/21 – Had 3 or more runs that season
- 16/21 – Winning distance 1 1/2 or less
- 15/21 – Had won over a mile before
- 14/21 – Priced 9/2 or shorter
- 14/21 – Aged 3 years-old
- 13/21 – Rated between 98 and 108
- 12/21 – Placed last time out
- 12/21 – Had won 3 or more times before
- 12/21 – Had won a Listed or Group class race
- 7/21 – Winning favourites
- 6/21 – Won last time out
- 6/21 – Trained by Sir Michael Stoute
- 6/21 – Had run at Sandown before
- 5/21 – Ran at Ascot last time out
- Potapova (18/1) won the race in 2022
3.00 Virgin Bet Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 1m2f ITV4
Horses aged 3, 4 or 5 have won ALL of the last 10 runnings of this handicap. With this in mind, the older runners in the race – Certain Lad, Andaleep and Dashing Roger have this to overcome.
A top 5 finish last time, running in the last 4 weeks and also carrying 9-1 or less in weight are other big trends. Trainer William Stone is also respected with a 50% strike-rate at the track – he runs Dashing Roger, who despite being a 6 year-olds has to be noted.
At big prices – Baltic Voyage, Skysail, Dual Identity and Kitsune Power could outrun their odds off low weights, but a chance is also taken on the Ryan Moore-ridden royal runner Educator, who is out again quickly after only running last week at York.
- 10/10 – Aged 3, 4 or 5
- 9/10 – Carried 9-1 or less in weight
- 9/10 – Ran in the last 4 weeks
- 9/10 – Top 5 finish last time out
- 9/10 – Won over at least 1m2f before
- 8/10 – Carried 8-12 or less in weight
- 8/10 – Won between 1-4 times before
- 7/10 – Unplaced favourites
- 7/10 – Rated between 82-95
- 5/10 – Ridden by a claiming jockey
- 5/10 – Won last time out
- 4/10 – Had run at the track before
- 3/10 – Ran at Newmarket last time out
- 1/10 – Winning favourites
- 3 of the last 5 winners came from stall 3
- Trainer William Stone has a 50% record with his horses at the track
3.38 –Virgin Bet Solario Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 7f16y ITV4
A chance to see some potential stars of the future here as in recent years the likes of Kingman, Too Darn Hot and Masar have won this G3 prize.
Mortlake was a nice winner at Leicester last time and is one to note, while the Kingman colt Starlore will be hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps and win this race. He was a good winner on debut here at Sandown too.
However, it’s hard to ignore the 33% record of trainer Charlie Appleby at the track and the yard have also won this race twice since 2017 – including last year and also with their 2018 Epsom Derby winner Masar.
They run Aablan, who got off the mark at the first try at HQ at the end of July. Yes, this will be harder for this Dubawi colt, but he’s got some fancy entries like the G1 Dewhurst Stakes later in the season, so is clearly well-regarded.
- 20/21 – Had won at least one race before
- 19/21 – Never raced at Sandown before
- 19/21 – Had won over 6 or 7f before
- 18/21 – Foaled in Jan, Feb or March
- 15/21 – Placed favourites
- 14/21 – Had 2 or more previous runs
- 14/21– Won last time out
- 12/21 – Had won over 7f before
- 10/21 – Winning favourites
- 8/21 – Ran at Newmarket last time out
- Trainer Charlie Appleby has a 33% record with this 2 year-olds at the track

Chester Horse Racing Tips and Trends
3.20 CAA Stellar Chester Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m6 1/2f ITV4
Godolphin’s Military Order will be popular here dropped into a Listed race and also gets weight of most of the others.
However, it’s a race the Ralph Beckett yard have done well in recently – winning the last two – and a chance is taken on their Lone Eagle to continue that good run.
Last seen running over much further at Ascot and Goodwood, so this drop back in trip will suit having run the useful Hamish close over 1m 5 1/2f back in May at Chester – a repeat of that run should be good enough to see him run well and give the ‘boys in blue’ something to think about.
- 10/10 – Aged 6 or younger
- 9/10 – Returned 7/1 or shorter in the betting
- 9/10 – Carried 9-5 or less in weight
- 8/10 – Didn’t win last time out
- 8/10 – Have 4 or less past wins
- 8/10 – Favourites placed in the top 3
- 8/10 – Drawn in stalls 5 or lower
- 8/10 – Ran in the last 6 weeks
- 8/10 – Won over 1m4f+ in the past
- 8/10 – Aged 5 or younger
- 5/10 – Ran at either Ascot (3) or Newmarket (2) last time out
- 5/10 – Aged 3 years-old
- 4/10 – Had run at Chester before (2 won)
- 4/10 – Winning favourites
- 2/10 – Trained by Ralph Beckett (last two)
Beverley Horse Racing Tips and Trends
2.05 – William Hill Silver Cup Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m2f ITV4
With 10 of the last 12 winners coming from stalls 4 or lower, this means we could just narrow our search down to Dream Hunter, Dark Jedi, Stowell and Omniscient.
A first or second in their most recent run is another thing to look for and the only one that fits the bill here is Dancing In Paris, who was runner-up last time at Chepstow, but also gets in here with a featherweight of just 8-3.
- 12/12 – Returned 9/1 or shorter in the betting
- 11/12 – Ran in the last 6 weeks
- 10/12 – Carried 9st or less in weight
- 10/12 – Drawn in stalls 4 of lower
- 10/12 – Finished 1st or 2nd last time out
- 9/12 – Placed in the top 3 last time out
- 9/12 – Favourites placed
- 8/12 – Irish bred
- 4/12 – Winning favourite
- 3/12 – Ran at Newmarket last time out
- 2/12 – Trained by Richard Fahey
- 2/12 – Trained by Karl Burke
- 2/12 – Ridden by Ben Curtis (2 of last 4)
2.40 – William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f ITV4
Some past winners here in Judicial, who won the prize in 2019, and the winner for the last two seasons Tis Marvellous.
The last-named is now a 9 year-old and hasn’t won since taking this 12 months ago (5 races). He’s well-drawn again in 6, having won from stall 7 last year, while with ALL of the last 12 winners aged 4 or older than the 3 year-old in the race Kerdos has this to defy.
The consistent Apollo One, from stall 2, rarely runs a bad race and even though this will be his first run at Beverley, he’s shown in the past he can handle different tracks and looks primed to go well again.
- 12/12 – Aged 4 or older
- 12/12 – Previous winners over 5f
- 12/12 – Returned 10/1 or shorter
- 11/12 – Aged 5 or older
- 11/12 – Rated 100+
- 11/12 – Had won 5+ races before
- 10/12 – Placed favourites
- 9/12 – Ran in the last 4 weeks
- 9/12 – Ran at Ascot (5), York (2) or Goodwood (2) last time
- 8/12 – Had run at the track before
- 7/12 – Drawn in stalls 4 or lower
- 4/12 – Winning favourite
- 2/12 – Trained by Clive Cox (last 2)
- 8 of the last 10 winners drawn 7 or lower
- Tis Marvellous (7/1) won the race in 2021 and 2022
- Judicial (13/2) won the race in 2019
