In the latest Fabrizio Romano reports, the Italian has confirmed that Liverpool are tracking Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz.

Highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz is being tracked by Liverpool, among other clubs, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best up and coming talents in Germany.

He has already racked up 91 appearances and 21 goals for Leverkusen, as well as four caps for the senior German national side.

Wirtz is also an U21 European Championship winner, scoring twice as Germany lifted the title back in 2021.

To no surprise, his form and talent has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in world football.

According to Romano, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool are all tracking the youngster, with the race for his signature still 100% open.

Wirtz missed out on the end of last season, and the start of this season as he recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Despite missing out, he has made a massive impact since returning for the Bundesliga side.

After missing the World Cup, he has made 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting six times.

His most notable performance of the campaign came in the Europa League against Monaco.

Wirtz scored and assisted to send his side to a penalty shootout, which they won and saw them advance to the next round.

It remains to be seen where Wirtz ends up this summer, but with a midfield rebuild on the horizon for Liverpool – it may be a suited move.

His market value is currently at around £70 million, as his contract with Leverkusen runs until the summer of 2027.

Jurgen Klopp’s German links could well play a factor in his move too, as he looks to take the next step in his career.
