The York Ebor Festival gets underway on Wednesday 23rd August with a thrilling day of horse racing in store. To prepare for the action we have compiled some York Races each-way tips with a cheeky double. Check out our selections below.

The Ebor Festival opener is a big field handicap, which are always a fun contest to have a punt on with so many chances. However the first horse in our York races each-way tips is JM JUNGLE. John Quinn’s three-year-old is having a solid season so far and has not finished anywhere lower than fourth in seven races since being gelded.

He is seeking a hat-trick and will look to build on his Glorious Goodwood success earlier this month. The talented Jason Hart will also remain in the saddle, and can give this handy looking sprinter another great ride looking for a third straight win.

We know these 20-runner handicaps can produce some surprising results, but this gelding is ground versatile having won on soft last time, and good/firm the time before. JM Jungle is also a good ground winner after he won at Hamilton in just his second start back in May 2022. Hart saddled him that day too and will look to make it a fourth career win in the Ebor festival opener on Wednesday.

Completing our York races each-way tips is the progressive ROBERT JOHNSON. This five-year-old stayer has thrived since returning to the Philip Kirby yard this season, and has every chance of making four wins from his last five outings.

His last win came over course and distance back in July under Connor Beasley, who returns to the saddle after Paula Muir took over last time out at Goodwood. This drop back down in distance can only be a positive too, with 2m looking his ideal trip after his success this summer.

The going is currently good, and Robert Johnson has no preferences ground wise, and has been known to handle whatever surface he has raced on. He is also the only CD winner in the field, which is always a strong starting point for York.
