This match between Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith is quite a tremendous tungsten tussle on paper. Whoever wins this match will not only be crown World Champion, but will also rise to world number one, further solidifying themself as the best darts player in the world.
Both men looked super impressive in the semi-finals, but it was ‘MVG’ who put in the best performance. He destroyed Dimitri van den Bergh 6-0 with a 108 average, as well as checking out ‘the big fish’ in the match too. Smith has come on leaps and bounds since their last meeting in the final back in 2019, but we still feel he could fall just short here yet again against an in-form Michael van Gerwen.

World Darts Championship Format
There are 96 players who have qualified for this year’s World Darts Championship from all around the world. The First Round ties began on Thursday 15th December, before the First Round concludes on Wednesday 21st December.
All of the Second Round matches will be played by Friday 23rd December, with the Third Round beginning after a three day break for Christmas. Round 3 gets going on Tuesday 27th December, and will be done by Thursday 29th December.
Round Four, which is the Last 16 of the World Darts Championship, begins in the evening session on Thursday 29th December and concludes on Friday 30th December. The eight players left in the Quarter-Finals will have New Year’s Eve off, before playing their matches on Sunday 1st January.
The Semi-Finals get underway on Monday 2nd January in the evening, before the big one takes place the following day. The Final of the World Darts Championship takes place on Tuesday 3rd January at approximately 7.30pm, live from the Alexandra Palace, London.
