Fans will be happy to know that Tiger Woods is scheduled to play in the Masters that begins on the 11th April. It’s almost 30 years since Woods won his first Masters – a venue he has since enjoyed plenty of iconic moments at.
The 48-year-old has been taking it easy since his terrible leg injury after a car crash in 2021. Woods claimed he would play in one tournament every month in 2024, but that hasn’t been the case as he pulled out of the Valspar Championship.
Woods told the Golf Channel that he was suffering from influenza and that is why he didn’t participate in Valspar. He is also not expected to show up for the Houston Open. Many believe that he has the Masters on his mind and he’s focusing on getting in the best shape possible.
How many Masters has Woods won?
The American is a a five-time winner at Augusta. He won in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019. The remarkable victory in 2019 was his first major tournament in 11 years since the 2008 U.S. Open.
Woods will be hoping to level Jack Nicklaus’ record for the number of Masters wins, which stands at six. Woods can also break Nicklaus’ record for the oldest Masters winner; Nicklaus was 46-years-old when he won his last and Woods can break it at 48.

Woods will also be chasing Nicklaus’ record of 18 major tournament wins. Woods currently stands on 15. He’s won Five Green Jackets, four PGA Championships, three U.S. Opens and three Open Championships.
He’s certainty one of the greats and in 2022, Forbes declared Woods to be only the third-ever billionaire athlete. He joined the category alongside Lebron James and Michael Jordon.
Is Woods expected to win the Masters 2024?
Although Woods is not expected to make a ripple at Augusta this year, you simply can not count him out after 2019’s miracle win. Scottie Scheffler will be most people’s pick to win having continued his form into 2024 – he also won the tournament in 2022.
Jon Rahm – who can become the first back-to-back winner since Tiger Woods in 2002 – and Rory Mcllroy are also big favourites as is to be expected.
