All 20 Premier League Sides in FA Cup Action This Weekend

It’s been a busy time for the Premier League teams after the World Cup and there’s no let up as all 20 sides are in action again this weekend – this time in the FA Cup.

The FA Cup fixtures for the Third Round are spread over Friday 6th January to Monday 9th January 2023 (see all the Premier League sides matches below), getting going on Friday night with 12-time FA Cup winners Manchester United welcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford.

Five All-Premier League Clashes In The FA Cup Third Round

The FA Cup Third Round will see 32 games played out with 64 teams remain in the famous cup competition as all roads from here will lead to the FA Cup Final date on 3rd June 2023 – slightly later this year.

The Third Round is also the first time the 20 Premier League sides enter the event, with the lower level teams having already played many games to get this far and there are five all-Premier League match-ups that are the games that are likely to grab most of the headlines.

Which Premier League Side Is Most Likely To Be Knocked Out Of The FA Cup In The Third Round?

So, looking at the 15 FA Cup Third Round matches that involve Premier League sides, which are potential banana-skin games for some of the English top-flight teams?

Of course, the 2023 FA Cup favourites Man City, who are @ 7/2 with BetUK to lift the cup in June, will have a good chance of beating Chelsea on Sunday. Yes, a tough game but the Man City vs Chelsea head-to-head record at the moment strongly favours City, who has won their last four over The Blues without letting a goal in.

The other all Premier League matchups suggest Liverpool might see off Wolves, while Manchester United will be the warm favourites to beat struggling Everton on Friday night.

It’s hard to not see Spurs getting by Portsmouth with home advantage and will be boosted by a nice 4-0 win over Palace in the week.

Forest (Blackpool), Leeds (Cardiff), Fulham (Hull), Leicester (Gillingham) and Brighton (Boro) all face tricky away matches and it wouldn’t be a total shock if one of that quartet is slipping up.

Newcastle, who suffered a shock FA Cup Third Round defeat in this round to Cambridge last season, should have too much class for Sheffield Wednesday, while with Crystal Palace and Southampton both up and down in the league at the moment that game is tricky to call.

Villa play League Two’s Stevenage but have home advantage and should be fine, while if the Premier League leaders Arenal lose to Oxford on Monday night it will enter the FA Cup biggest upsets hall of fame.

BrentfordFACupAwayTickets

So, that leaves us with Brentford vs West Ham.

The Bees will still be buzzing after their recent 3-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night and with the Brentford Community Stadium rocking after the game the fans can take that feeling into this FA Cup Third Round clash.

That win saw Brentford climb to 9th in the Premier League table (26 points) and with that cushion are now able to give this competition it’s fully attention, without having to keep players back and save them for a relegation fight.

In contrast, West Ham has had a stuttered start to their League campaign and with just 15 points from 18 games find themselves in 17th and only 3 points off the bottom. Yes, they fought back well against Leeds on Wednesday night (2-2) but still let the game slip after going ahead and you just feel that boss David Moyles will have one eye on the Premier League survival rather than a run in the cup that they most likely are not going to win anyway.

If we add in the decent home record of Brentford at the moment – 6 games unbeaten – while their only home defeat this season came at the hands of Arsenal, then Thomas Frank’s side @ 27/20 with BetUK get the nod to see off West Ham in the Saturday 5:30pm FA Cup offering.

The six-time FA Cup winners, Manchester City, head the FA Cup outright betting with most firms. They face a tricky home Third Round clash against the 8-time winners Chelsea, but if they win that game their FA Cup betting odds will shorten a lot more.

Next best in the betting is Arsenal, who are the all-time FA Cup winners with 14 successes to their name – they face Oxford on Monday night.

With Liverpool (8 FA Cup wins) , Tottenham (8 FA Cup wins) and Manchester United (12 FA Cup wins) all next best in the outright FA Cup betting market.
