FA Cup Head-To-Head Stats: 6th January – 8th January 2023

FA Cup

After the World Cup break and then the return to the Premier League at the end of December, the focus switches again – this time to the FA Cup Third round. There’s 32 FA Cup matches to look forward to and with it being the cup there are sure to be some FA Cup shocks over the weekend.

However, the draw has also thrown up five all-Premier League clashes which are sure to grab most of the headlines. The first of these sees struggling Everton travelling to 12-times FA Cup winners Manchester United on Friday night. The sides last met in this competition in the semi-final during the 2015-16 season, with United winning 2-1 and going onto beat Crystal Palace in the final.

Sticking with Crystal Palace, then are in action next in second all-Premier League game as they welcome Southampton to Selhurst Park on Saturday lunchtime.

Later on Saturday at 5:30pm it’s the turn of Brentford to welcome West Ham to the Community Stadium and after a top 3-1 win in the league over Liverpool last time out, The Bees will head into the match full of confidence.

Still on Saturday and we’ve also Liverpool hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers in the late evening fixture – the sides last met in the FA Cup in 2019 (in the Third Round) and that ended in a 2-1 win for Wolves.

The final all English top-flight FA Cup third round game is easily the biggest match-up from the 32 games as Manchester City entertain Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. The sides have met just 7 times in the FA Cup before, with Man City just edging it with four wins to Chelsea’s three.
