Aidan O’Brien’s Warm Heart will retire after her tilt at the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational on Saturday, and will be hoping to end her career on a high at Gulfstream Park.

Warm Heart To Retire After Pegasus World Cup Turf Run

It’s fair to say that Warm Heart was one of the best fillies in training last season, and this daughter of Galileo will look to bow out on a high at the Florida track on Saturday. This race will be her final one before going off to stud to become a mother.

O’Brien’s four-year-old picked up her first win in a Leopardstown maiden back in May 2023, and since then has gone on to win two Group 1 contests.

Her two biggest wins came in the space of around two weeks midway through last season. She won the Yorkshire Oaks at York on August 24th, and just a fortnight later she headed over to Longchamp and won the Qatar Prix Vermeille (see below).

The revival of Warm Heart came out of nowhere after she finished a never dangerous fifth in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh in July. But her two runs after were exceptional, setting her up for a tilt at the Breeders’ Cup Filly& Mare Turf, in which she finished runner-up to Inspiral.

Her regular work rider Rachel Richardson was speaking to the media ahead of this weekend: “She’s a big personality,” Richardson said. “She loves to work. She’s on the go all year and she loves to gallop. She has a real great attitude.

“She deserves a good retirement…Hopefully we can send her out on a high.”
