Looking to end their 16-year trophyless streak, Tottenham are in FA Cup fourth round action on Friday evening and face a tough task in hosting the reigning champions and treble-winners Manchester City.
With no European involvement and an early exit in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup is undoubtedly Ange Postecoglou’s best hope of lifting a trophy in his first season with the North London club.
They come into the clash unbeaten in three consecutive matches, most recently playing out a 2-2 stalemate against Manchester United, and beating Burnley and Bournemouth in the prior fixtures, meanwhile the Cityzens are unbeaten in nine and have won each of their last six games across all competitions.
The pair are separated by just three points in the Premier League table, although City have a game-in-hand, with Pep Guardiola’s side currently occupying second place, while Spurs are in fifth.
Incredibly, Manchester City have never won at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, losing each of their five appearances at the ground in the last five years. Spurs will be without several key players for this one though, with the likes of Pape Sarr, Heung-min Son and Yves Bissouma all away on international duty.
