Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is now Tottenham’s No 1 target to replace Antonio Conte, who was sacked by chairman Daniel Levy after scathing criticism of the club.

Manchester City legend Kompany has guided the Clarets to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League with six games to spare in a hugely impressive campaign.

And the Belgian boss’ managerial talents have caught the eye of the Spurs hierarchy according to The Sun, who claim he is now their primary choice as the next man to take charge of the rudderless club.

The report claims that Levy has been ‘blown away’ by Kompany, 37, having watched him lead Burnley back into the Premier League while losing just two league matches thus far.

He is now seen by Spurs chiefs as a ‘manager who can give the club a new dimension’.

Tottenham have enviously watched on as Mikel Arteta has transformed bitter rivals Arsenal into Premier League title contenders having spent three years working as Pep Guardiola’s No 2 at Manchester City.

Levy is adamant Kompany, who also worked under Guardiola at the Premier League champions, can do the same up the road at Tottenham.

Despite the glowing endorsements, the Burnley boss can still be backed at a lengthy 7/1 to take the Spurs hotseat.

Brendan Rodgers, who recently lost his job in charge of Leicester is the favourite to succeed Conte at 9/4.

Another option for Levy may be that of former boss Pochettino, who left Spurs back in 2019, and joined PSG two years later.

His one year stint with the Parisiens saw him win the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the Trophee des Champions. Despite earning three pieces of silverware, his time in Paris is largely considered unsuccessful.

As short as 11/8 recently, the Argentine has now drifted to 10/3.

Julian Nagelsmann, who was relieved of his duties as Bayern Munich boss two weeks ago, is also in the running at 15/2.
