Being one of the most recognisable figures in horse racing, some may be wondering what the Ruby Walsh net worth is, so read on to see all you need to know about the former jockey.

Who Is Ruby Walsh?

Ruby Walsh is a former National Hunt jockey and was widely regarded as one of the best of all time, holding the record for the most Cheltenham Festival wins ever with 59 to his name. He won top jockey at the week long meeting 11 times during his 24 years riding.

Walsh is actually the third most successful jumps jockey in the history of British and Irish racing behind AP McCoy and Richard Johnson, accumulating 2756 wins in his career.

Being so talented in the saddle, Walsh was able to ride regularly throughout his career for highly-respected trainers such as Paul Nicholls and Willie Mullins.

He also had a strong relationship with Rich Ricci, riding some of the popular owner’s best horses including Annie Power, Faugheen and Vautor. However, one of Walsh’s most agonising moments as a jockey was when Annie Power fell at the final hurdle in the 2015 Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham when looking like the winner (see below).

The Irishman won the Grand National at Aintree in 2000 on his first attempt, aged 20. He guided Papillon to glory, a horse trained by his father and they had further family success together when winning the Irish Grand National in the same year with Commanche Court.

Walsh also still holds some of the best Grand National records amongst jockeys, winning the race twice in 2000 and 2005, and finishing second, third and fourth (x2) in 2006, 2009 and 2001/2002 respectively.

The Ruby Walsh net worth being so high should not come to a surprise to many considering the countless honours that the popular figure won during his time as a jockey.
