Ruby Walsh Cheltenham Tips: Honeysuckle Could Be On Her Way Down

Cheltenham Festival Tips: HONEYSUCKLE (LAY) @ 9/4 with BetUK

Honeysuckle will probably get the biggest roar if she wins her fourth Cheltenham Festival race in the Mares’ Hurdle. However, former top jockey Ruby Walsh thinks she’s vulnerable and is one of the big ‘day one’ fanices to take on.

The two-time Champion Hurdle winner lost her unbeaten tag (twice) this season and Ruby feels that she could just be on the “way down”.

Ruby Walsh, who was speaking on Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Punters’ Panel – Cheltenham Edition’ said – “I wouldn’t mind having a go at Honeysuckle,” he said. ” I think she’s on the way down and she’s the one I probably would [think that I could turnover] unfortunately, much as I and a lot of other people would like to see her win, I think she’s vulnerable.”

In what also looks an above-average renewal of the Mares’ Hurdle on Wednesday 15th March, there are several decent horses that you’ll have running for you if you agree with Ruby Walsh.

No 7lbs Mares’ Allowance For Honeysuckle This Time Either

Yes, Honeysuckle will now be racing against her own sex, but this also means she won’t have the handy 7lbs mares’ allowance either. This weight help has certainly gone a long way to see her more than hold her own against the boys in recent years, but she’ll be without here.

There’s another former Champion Hurdler in the race in Epatante, plus leading Irish raiders from the Willie Mullins yard Brandy Love and Echoes In Rain. There is also last year’s Mares’ Novice winner Love Envoi in the contest, which is all set up to be a crackerjack of a race.
