It’s For Me, Westport Cove, Fact To File, Did I Ask You That and Chapeau De Soleil are all respected, but Ruby Walsh feels the value call in the Champion Bumper is the Willie Mullins-trained CHOSEN WITNESS.
This 6 year-old was a winning Pointer before being successful on his rules debut at Limerick by an easy 10 lengths back at the end of December, which also came on heavy ground.
However, Walsh suggests the horse will be even better suited by drier conditions, that he should get at the Cheltenham Festival in March, so that victory last time in really deep ground was probably much better than it looked.
The Limerick victory also came over 2m2f, so Chosen Witness can be expected to suited by the Cheltenham hill and showed a lot of gears that day to suggest there’s plenty more in the tank to come.
He’s entered to run at the Dublin Racing Festival (4th Feb) and a good showing there would see his Cheltenham odds for the Champion Bumper on the Wednesday shorten further, so now might be a good time to get on @ 20/1 with bet365.
