SEDGEFIELD 1.40

YUKON (system – James Moffatt stable switchers)

Since the beginning of 2015, Jimmy Moffatt is nine from 48 at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other trainers for a profit of £43.50 to the usual £1 stake (expected winners only 4.09). Six of the seven qualifiers who ran in maiden hurdles finished in the first four and it might be worth having a tiny bet on YUKON, who makes his jumps debut after leaving David O’Meara.

NAVAN 1.50

ROMAN MOON (system – Holy Roman Emperor, first-time blinkers, 5f-6f)

Progeny of the sire Holy Roman Emperor have a solid record when fitted with first-time blinkers in a sprint, landing 11 of their 54 starts for a profit of £27.67. The juveniles are eight from 27 (£23.68) and ROMAN MOON looks very interesting now cutting back from 7f to 5.5f.

NOTTINGHAM 3.15

ALEX THE GREAT (system – Amo Racing-owned newcomers)

Owners Amo Racing have a 23 from 102 record with racecourse debutants and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £31.50. ALEX THE GREAT cost 150,000gns as a yearling and looks worth chancing for the in-form David Simcock yard.

SEDGEFIELD 2.15

ARTHUR’S QUAY (system – Ben Haslam handicappers, owned by J P McManus)

Ben Haslam does well with J P McManus-owned horses in handicaps, scoring with 50 of the 326 qualifiers since the beginning of 2018 for a huge profit of £151.56 to a £1 level stake at SP. ARTHUR’S QUAY looks worth a speculative interest on his stable debut.

NAVAN 4.10

MARISTELLA (system – New Bay handicappers, top three finish last time out)

Progeny of the sire New Bay have a great record in handicap company on the back of a top-three finish, landing 57 of their 160 starts (35.6%) for a profit of £111.49. MARISTELLA was a 4-1 winner on this angle at Galway last month and can follow up.
