CATTERICK 3.15
GUIRI (system – Ben Haslam, second-time ‘switchers’)
Ben Haslam has a good record at the second time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 13 of the 81 qualifiers for a profit of £74.34 to a £1 level stake at SP. GUIRI pulled up at Kelso on his stable debut but he struggled to see out the extended 2m6f trip on heavy ground that day. He’s likely to appreciate the sounder surface/shorter distance this afternoon and is worth a speculative interest.
CATTERICK 3.45
GIT MAKER (system – chasers at Catterick, won a Catterick chase last time out)
Horses who won over fences at Catterick on their latest start often follow up when competing in another Catterick chase. Since the beginning of 2010, 16 of the 39 qualifiers won (41% strike-rate) and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £20.79 to a £1 level stake at SP. GIT MAKER was a comfortable course and distance winner on New Year’s Day and can go in again.
KEMPTON 8.00
UTHER PENDRAGON (system – Dragon Pulse, Kempton all-weather handicaps)
Progeny of the sire Dragon Pulse have a 21 from 119 record (17.6% strike-rate) in handicaps on Kempton’s Polytrack surface and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £76.80 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 12.26). UTHER PENDRAGON completed a hat-trick of wins in December with a victory over course and distance and although winless in two subsequent outings, both came at Lingfield and he may appreciate the return to the Sunbury venue.
