The Old Boston Handicap is a good race for three-year-olds, with six of the last nine renewals going to the classic generation from just 20 runners. Four-year-olds have won the other three renewals and on two occasions there was only one three-year-old in the line-up and they were priced at 10-1 and 11-1. Backing all three-year-olds in the past ten years (nine renewals, as the race was abandoned in 2019) would have returned a profit of £15.90 to a £1 stake.
In order to side with the three-year-olds as a group it might be best to buy DOUBLE NUMBER OF WINNER with Spreadex as the older horses are congregated at the head of the weights. Fixed odds punters might want to consider numbers 11 and 13 – HARROW and BILLYB – who both ran well in the same Doncaster race last time, a 7f Class 2 handicap that was not run to suit their patient styles. WANEES, number 10 on the racecard, is also of interest now that he’s been gelded.

NEWMARKET 3.40
High draws have held sway in recent renewals of the Cambridgeshire and it could be the same again this year. Plenty of the pace is drawn middle-to-high and if 2020 winner and habitual pacesetter MAJESTIC DAWN heads to the stands’ side from stall 14 then it could prove difficult for those to drawn low to strike a meaningful blow. LUCANDER, runner-up to Majestic Dawn two years ago, could blast off in the first-time blinkers from stall 27 and prove hard to catch, while JIMI HENDRIX (stall 28), OUZO (stall 25) and ARQOOB (stall 29) are others with serious chances.

CHELMSFORD JOCKEYS
Apprentice find of the season TAYLOR FISHER has ridden 14 winners from just 89 mounts in his career to date and backing them all would have returned a profit of £29.15 to a £1 level stake at SP. He travelled all the way from his Devon base to Beverley for one ride (WON 7-2) on Tuesday and, quite incredibly for a 7lb claimer, he rides in seven of the eight races at Chelmsford tonight.
I’m especially keen on DIG TWO now he returns to sprinting in the 6.33, despite his wide draw, but the recommendation is to buy FISHER in the Spreadex CHELMSFORD JOCKEYS market. He’s only had more than three mounts in a day on one occasion – at Lingfield on August 20th – when his mounts recorded form figures of 321434 (1-6).
