Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been slashed to 11/2 to be the next manager to leave his post in the Premier League, following the Citizens being charged with multiple financial breaches.

Following a four-year investigation into the club’s finances, the Premier League confirmed earlier today that Manchester City have been charged for numerous breaches of financial rules.

City have been charged with not providing accurate financial information from 2009/10 to 2017/18, and have also been charged for failing to cooperate with the Premier League investigation from 2018.

The club now face possible point deductions, and possibly even expulsion.

Yesterday, Guardiola was priced at 100/1 to be the next Premier League manager to go, but has since been slashed to 11/2 on UK betting sites.

This comes on the back of comments made by Guardiola in May 2019. The City boss said that he would leave his post if he had been lied to by the club’s owners.

“Why did I defend the club and the people? It’s because I work with them.” he explained.

“When they are accused of something I ask them: ‘Tell me about that.’ They explain and I believe them. I said to them: ‘If you lie to me, the day after I am not here’.

“‘I will be out and I will not be your friend any more. I put my faith in you because I believe you 100 percent from day one and I defend the club because of that.’”

Guardiola is currently the second most likely manager to leave their post or to be sacked in the Premier League.

Leeds United’s Jesse Marsch was ahead of Guardiola earlier today, but has since been relieved from his duties at Elland Road.

Southampton’s Nathan Jones is now the only manager who is more likely to go ahead of the City boss, according to Premier League betting sites.
