Padraig Harrington Grand National Tip (Saturday 15th April 2023)

Despite being far more well known as a professional golfer, Padraig Harrington also has an interest in horse racing. The two-time Open Championship winner has offered his verdict for this year’s Grand National.

The Dubliner really likes the chances of the Gordon Elliot-trained Galvin, who will be ridden by two-time Grand National winner and three-time Champion Jockey, Davy Russell.

Padraig Harrington Tip At Aintree For The 2023 Grand National

Galvin to WIN @ 16/1

Padraig Harrington’s biggest fancy is the Irish-trained Galvin for owner Ronnie Bartlett from the Elliott yard. Galvin comes to Aintree fresh off the back of a second place finish in the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham last month, beaten out by two lengths to Delta Work.

The 9-year-old is rated 166, the same as last year’s winner Noble Yeats but will carry extra weight (11-11) which could prove to be a decisive factor in the race – considering all of the last 19 winners carried 11st 9lbs or less.

Harrington said:

“I backed Banbridge who won in the same colours on Thursday and the ground has come right for him.”

Gordon Elliott is hunting a fourth win in the Grand National and Galvin has a decent chance. Other runners for the Meath-based trainer include Delta Work (10/1), Coko Beach (28/1), Fury Road (40/1) and Dunboyne (66/1).
