Mesut Ozil’s recent tweet referring to Tottenham Hotspur as ‘Bottle Job FC’ has come back to haunt the former Arsenal star.
As Ronan Keaton once said, ‘You say it best, when you say nothing at all’ couldn’t be more apt after the Gunners recent poor form continued after their FA Cup third round defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Arsenal Results
Arsenal’s results over the festive period have seen them lose to the likes of Fulham, Liverpool and West Ham and they currently find themselves in 4th position in the Premier League table.
Furthermore, the Gunners are five points adrift of leaders Liverpool and their FA Cup exit at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s side has cast a dark cloud over what was a strong first-half to the 2023/24 campaign.
The North Londoners torrid run of results has even sparked rumours of manager Mikel Arteta leaving the club, with Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso the favourite to replace the Spaniard.
Who else should be able to break that record? 😬 Bottle Job FC is back 🫡 https://t.co/AX6q18lUHm

Tottenham Form
Tottenham Hotspur’s form has been hugely impressive over the last four weeks, with the Lilywhites booking their place in the 4th round of the FA Cup as well.
In the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou’s side have beaten the likes of Bournemouth, Everton and Newcastle which has helped reignite their top four hopes.
At the time of writing, just one point separates Spurs from their biggest rivals and the coming months could see a change of fortunes in North London.
Since Mesut Ozil tweeted this…
Arsenal – 1 win in 7
Spurs – 5 wins in 6

Mesut Ozil Tweet
Since Mesut Ozil tweeted about Tottenham on December 8th 2023, after their 2-1 defeat against West Ham the day before, Spurs have gone on to win five of their last six games.
On the other hand, his beloved Arsenal have won just one game in their last seven across all competitions. Egg on face springs to mind!
Ozil has often posted on X – formerly Twitter – about the Gunners but this is certainly one post that he is probably now wishing he hadn’t aired to his 26.3m followers.
