Leicester vs Ipswich Bet Builder: Foxes To Win & Cannon To Score Anytime

Leicester vs Ipswich Preview & Prediction (20:00 KO)

Monday evening plays host to one of the most crucial fixtures in the Championship this season, as league leaders Leicester City welcome third place Ipswich Town to the East Midlands.

Seven points separate the pair heading into the tie, with the Foxes looking to extend their lead at the top of the table, meanwhile the Tractor Boys will be aiming to reclaim second place from Southampton via a win or a draw.

Enzo Maresca’s side fell to a bitterly disappointing 3-1 derby day defeat to Coventry last time out, where Abdul Fatawu was shown a straight red card, a result that marked the end of their impressive 11 game unbeaten run across all competitions.

Ipswich meanwhile, finally got back to winning ways in the league with a narrow 2-1 triumph over play-off chasing Sunderland. Prior to that one, Kieran McKenna’s side had gone five straight matches without tasting victory, with four of those coming as draws, and the other in the form of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds.

Of course, the pair last met at Portman Road on Boxing Day just over a month ago. Stephy Mavididi’s first half opener saw Leicester lead that one for almost 70 minutes, however the hosts refused to back down and salvaged a point in the dying seconds through Sam Morsy.

We at SportsLens don’t anticipate such a result for the Suffolk-based outfit this time around though, as we are backing the table-topping Foxes to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat with a narrow victory at home.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Ipswich

Leicester vs Ipswich Betting Tips

  • Leicester To Win @ 17/20
  • Tom Cannon To Score Anytime @ 2/1
  • Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 16/5

Leicester vs Ipswich Betting Tip 1: Leicester To Win @ 17/20

Our first tip for your Monday evening Leicester vs Ipswich Championship bet builder is to back the Foxes to win the tie, priced by leading UK betting sites at around 17/20.

As previously alluded to, the Foxes were unbeaten in 11 prior to the Coventry defeat, with nine of those coming as victories. This includes wins over the likes of West Brom, Plymouth and Cardiff.

The Tractor Boys’ poor form over the last month or so is also a key factor in this selection too. With just one win in their last six league outings, a run in which they’ve drawn to relegation battlers QPR and Stoke, as well as being heavily beaten by Leeds, we find it hard to back anything other than a defeat for the newly-promoted side.

Leicester vs Ipswich Betting Tip 2: Tom Cannon To Score Anytime @ 2/1

Maresca is having to deal with several key players being absent due to injury, suspension and international invovlement, and this is particularly visible in the attacking areas.

Both Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho are away with their respective nations at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Jamie Vardy remains doubtful with a knock, with Fatawu also suspended for the forseeable future.

The return of talented youngster Kasey McAteer eases the pressure of these absences, and so does the form of Republic of Ireland youth international Tom Cannon – who has stepped up massively in recent weeks.

Joining from Everton in the summer, Cannon failed to score for the Foxes in the first half of the campaign. That changed following the end of 2023 though, as on New Year’s Day – the 21-year-old netted his first and second goal for the club against Huddersfield, before adding another against Millwall in the FA Cup a week later.

An almost certain starter amid the absentee crisis along the attacking line, we at SportsLens are backing Cannon to score at anytime against Ipswich on Monday evening, priced by leading UK bookmakers at 2/1.
