Leicester City are making a move for former Chelsea man Graham Potter in hopes that he will take over as manager for the 2023/24 season.

The Foxes are known to have approached Potter in early April this season, very soon after his short stint at Chelsea came to an end.

However, the Englishman declined due to wanting a break away from football.

Alternatively Dean Smith was appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season, where Leicester ultimately saw relegation from the Premier League just seven years after being champions of England.

Smith is said to still be in the run in for the job on a permanent basis as conversations were held this week in order to bounce back at the first attempt.

The bookies favour Dean Smith at 11/8, whereas Graham Potter sits at 12/1.

Even though Potter’s Chelsea career ended woefully, Leicester are still huge admirers. Previously the Englishman had impressive spells at Ostersunds FK, Swansea City and Brighton.

The Foxes however face competition for the 48-year-old’s signature as Crystal Palace look for a replacement for Roy Hodgson and French side Nice also eager to appoint.

Potter is reportedly in no hurry to choose his next role so soon after his Chelsea sacking in early April.

Comparatively, the Foxes hope that they can reach a verdict as soon as possible as a summer rebuild is in the pipeline.

Star players James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are set to be out the door in the next month in the summer transfer window, with Belgian international Youri Tielemans contract already expired.
