JP McManus Cheltenham Festival runners are always on the radar with punters ahead of the biggest jumps meeting of the season. So, let’s look at the main JP McManus 2023 Cheltenham entries running in the famous green and gold silks.

JP McManus Is The Cheltenham Festival Leading Owner
Over the years JP McManus has won two Grand Nationals but also has a stack of Cheltenham Festival winners to his name – 69 in fact.
With that haul of Festival winners, JP McManus is also the meeting’s leading owner, and it will be a shock if he’s not adding to his tally this month, when the four day Cheltenham Festival gets going on Tuesday 14th March.
12 months ago, JP had two more Cheltenham successes when Elimay won the Mares’ Chase and Brazil just held on in the Boodles Juvenile Hurdle.
Over the years JP McManus has also landed a staggering nine Champion Hurdles – with his most recent being Epatante in 2020. While his sole Gold Cup success came in 2012 with Synchronised. Of the ‘big four’ races it’s only the Champion Chase that has so far eluded McManus – he’ll be trying to put that right with Gentleman De Mee this year.

Who Are The Main JP McManus Cheltenham Festival Runners in 2023?
Wednesday 15th March 2023
A DREAM TO SHARE (Champion Bumper):
This 5 year-old was bought by JP McManus after an easy win at the Dublin Racing Festival and he could have another good one on his hands. Showed a blistering turn-of-foot that day to win by 2 3/4 lengths and will head to the Cheltenham Festival unbeaten (3-from-3). Another step up is needed, but this John E Kiely runner looks an exciting prospect.
FACT TO FILE (Champion Bumper):
Second runner in the Bumper and would have a leading chance too. From the Willie Mullins yard, this 6 year-old was behind A Dream To Share last time at Leoppardstown so has a bit to find. But you feel the stiffer finish here might suit this horse better and it would be no shock if he got closer this time. Patrick Mullins is expected to ride.

THANKSFORTHEHELP (Pertemps Network Final Hurdle):
JP McManus loves this Festival race – having won it five times over the years. He’s got another fair chance in 2023 with Thanksforyourhelp, who bolted up in the trial at Chepstow last month. He’s up 11lbs for that win, but had 6 1/2 lengths in-hand that day and with that being his first win could kick on now. JP could also have Perceval Legallois in here too, who won well at the DRF last time out.
Other JP McManus Runners On Thursday
- 2.50 – Janidil
- 3.30 – Sire Du Berlais
- 4.10 – So Scottish
- 4.50 – Zenta & Under Control

FILEY BAY (County Hurdle):Â
Another race JP does well in (2 wins). His most recent win came in 2020 with Saint Roi and has also had many placed horses over the years. Filey Bay will be flying the flag for him this year and is yet to finish out of the first three from 5 runs over hurdles. Was last seen running a close second in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury – form that would see him bang-there.
CORBETTS CROSS (Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle):Â
Snapped-up by JP after winning at Naas last month – the horse’s third win on the bounce. That success came over 2m but this 6 year-old is versatile in terms of trip having won over 3m too. Therefore, this step back up in distance is fine and if heading to the Festival (not 100%) is likely to be one of the Albert Bartlett favourites.
IMPERVIOUS (Mares’ Chase):Â
JP could be saving his best for last at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival here with this exciting mare. She will be a leading player along with the Ricci-owned Allegorie De Vassy – we should be in for a real ‘girl power’ clash. She comes here unbeaten in all races over fences (3-from-3) and has Festival experience when 6th in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle last year.
Other JP McManus Runners On Friday
1.30 Zenta
2.10 Petit Tonnerre, Glan
2.50 Dawn Rising
4.50 Elimay
5.30 No Ordinary Joe, Iroko
