How Have the Grand National Favourites Done In Recent Years?
Over the last 31 runnings of the Grand National, we’ve seen SIX winning favourites (or joint favourites). This works out at a 19% strike-rate – which, considering there are 40 runners in the race each year, isn’t too bad a return.
In more recent times (the last 10 years), we’ve only seen Tiger Roll (2019) reward favourite backers when winning at 4/1.
While, since the turn of the century (2000) the Grand National has produced four winning favourites (or joint) – Hedgehunter (2005), Comply or Die (2008) Don’t Push It (2010) and Tiger Roll (2019).

Grand National Favourites Have Been Placed In 55% Of the Last 31 Runnings
With Grand National each-way betting also popular, then it could also pay to know that 17 of the last 31 favourites have been placed. This means they finished in the top four, which is a fair return with 40 Grand National runners and 36 horses, therefore, running out of the places.
Which Horse Is The 2023 Grand National Favourite?
A lot can change between now and Saturday, when the Grand National is run in terms of the favourite.
At this stage, the recent Cheltenham Festival winner Corach Rambler is one of the 2023 Grand National market leaders as trainer Lucinda Russell looks for her second win in the race. She took the prize in 2017 with One For Arthur and remains the last non-Irish trained winner of the National.
Delta Work, who was third last year, is also high up in the 2023 Grand National betting, as is last year’s winner Noble Yeats.
