The most successful British trainer in the history of the Cheltenham Festival is undoubtedly Nicky Henderson, who has 73 winners to his name.

Only Willie Mullins (94 winners) is ahead of Nicky Henderson in the all time winning list – with Paul Nicholls trailing behind him in third on 48 Cheltenham Festival winners.

Nicky Henderson’s First Cheltenham Winner Was ‘See You Then’ In 1985

See You Then was Nicky Henderson’s first winner at the Cheltenham Festival and it came way back in 1985 – as the Gelding claimed his first of three Champion Hurdle wins.

Only four other horses have ever won the Champion Hurdle on three separate occasions, with See You Then without a doubt one of the most successful horses Nicky Henderson has ever trained.

Since See You Then’s first win in 1985 Nicky Henderson hasn’t stopped winning at the Cheltenham Festival – with six more Champion Hurdle wins, two Gold Cup’s and six Queen Mother Champion Chase’s just to name a few.
