Respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid are internally discussing the idea of signing Roberto Firmino this summer as the Brazilian departs Liverpool as a free agent.

Roberto Firmino is confirmed to be leaving Liverpool as a free agent this summer, with several clubs reportedly interested.

Barcelona have been linked with the Brazilian, as well as Real Madrid. However, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Los Blancos are internally discussing the option of signing him.

Romano broke the news on his Twitter account on Sunday morning.

“Exclusive – Roberto Firmino, one of the names considered by Real Madrid — there are no negotiations as of now, just internal discussions about Bobby.” he tweeted.

“He’s one of 4/5 options as new striker; different kind of players in the list.

“Firmino, free agent from Liverpool.”

Not only are Real Madrid linked with Firmino from Liverpool, but also Andy Robertson.

As reported earlier in the week, the Spanish giants are ramping up their search for a new left-back, as Ferland Mendy is set to leave – with Robertson being identified as a potential replacement.

Firmino’s emotional departure signifies a new era at Liverpool, with the Reds looking set for a major overhaul this summer.

The 31-year-old is considered a club legend by many fans on Merseyside, best remembered for his contribution to Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League title winning season.

During his time at Anfield, he has won seven trophies, including the Champions League back in 2018/19.
