Two of the Premier League’s best strikers, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane go head-to-head for the first time tonight as Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Pep Guardiola will look to steer Man City back into the right direction after consecutive losses to Southampton in the EFL Cup and Manchester United in the Premier League derby last weekend.

Tottenham have lost two of their last three league encounters, falling to defeat against Aston Villa and north London rivals Arsenal in between a 4-0 win away at Crystal Palace.

Tonight’s spotlight features Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, who are widely regarded as the two of the best strikers in Europe – but who has been better so far this season?

Erling Haaland vs Harry Kane Premier League Stats

In the Premier League this season, Haaland and Kane are the two leading goalscorers but it’s the Manchester City man with a sizeable advantage over the England captain.

  1. Erling Haaland – 21
  2. Harry Kane – 15

  1. Erling Haaland – 3
  2. Harry Kane – 1

The stats fall in Haaland’s favour, but that’s not to say that he blows Kane out of the water – despite his overall production being less, the 29-year-old is arguably more of a well-balanced striker.

The Spurs captain ranks 1st in the Premier League in headed goals, top 5 in key passes, top 10 in air challenges and top 10 in tackles in an opponent’s half.

Haaland’s stats elsewhere across the pitch are equally as impressive: 3rd in headed goals, top 5 in one-touch passes completion percentage and top 10 in conversion of shots on goal.

Has Haaland or Kane had the better season?

Overall, it must be said that Erling Haaland is having the significantly better season, but that doesn’t mean Kane isn’t still enjoying a very productive campaign with Tottenham.

The 22-year-old Norwegian is having a historic year, breaking records already such as:

  • Quickest player to hit 10 league goals (6 games)
  • Youngest and fastest player in Champions League history to reach 25 goals (20 games)
  • First in Premier League history to score 20 before January despite a six-week break for the World Cup

Manchester City are six points clear of Spurs and have a game in hand on tonight’s opponents, with the chance to cut the gap to five points to league leaders Arsenal at the mid-way point.
