Doncaster Racing Tips: 1-2-3 Best Bets On Saturday 16th December 2023

It’s all set for a decent afternoon of horse racing on at Doncaster this Saturday and SportsLens’ Andy Newton, gives you is take on the three LIVE ITV races. Plus, you can also see the key horse racing trends for each LIVE race.

2:05 – bet365 Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-135) 2m3f ITV

SportsLens (Andy Newton) 1-2-3 Doncaster Tips: The Jedd O’Keefe yard are 1-from-2 with their limited runners over fences at Doncaster and they look to have a fair chance of improving that strike-rate with VINTAGE FIZZ. This 6 year-old heads here having won two of his five career starts and was only just touched off at Ayr last time. A 42-day break since would have freshened him up and jockey Charlie Hammond, who has won on the horse before, is back in the plate.

Recent winners, Cruz Control and Findthetime can do best of the rest.

  • VINTAGE FIZZ (e/w)
  • Cruz Control
  • Findthetime

Key Doncaster Trends

  • No previous runnings
  • Trainer Jedd O’Keefe has a 50% strike-rate with his chasers at the track
  • Tom Lacey has a 25% strike-rate with his chasers at the track
  • Nicky Richards has a 17% strike-rate with his chasers at the track
  • Ben Pauling has is just 1 from 16 with his chasers at the track
  • Sue Smith has is just 1 from 16 with her chasers at the track

2:40 – bet365 Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (3yo+) 2m½f ITV

SportsLens (Andy Newton) 1-2-3 Doncaster Tips: The 2021 winner of this race TOMMY’S OSCAR is back to defend his crown with this meeting last year being called off. Still only an 8 year-old this Ann Hamilton runner won well on his first run back this season at Kelso and wasn’t disgraced when 4th in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree last time. Dropped back to hurdles here on what looks a fair mark despite having 12st to carry here. Has won 53% of his 15 hurdles starts and only been out of the top three on three occasions.

Of the others, the Fergal O’Brien horses are in good form, so their Glorious Zoff is respected too with a low weight. While Gin Coco won well at Ascot last time and his 4lb rise is offset with the Ben Bromley 5lb claim.

  • TOMMY’S OSCAR (e/w)
  • Gin Coco
  • Glorious Zoff

  • Tommy’s Oscar won the race in 2021

3:15 – bet365 Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-150) 3m ITV

SportsLens (Andy Newton) 1-2-3 Doncaster Tips: Mister Coffey has ability but is a horse that is still winless from 10 tries over fences so is overlooked. Sail Away should improve for a return 5th at Newbury two weeks ago and can go well. But the call here is MANOTHEPEOPLE for trainer Fergal O’Brien. The yard are going well at the moment with a 31% strike-rate at the time of writing and this horse is also a course winner. He won a Novice Handicap Hurdle here in March 2022 and went onto win twice more that season. He was a close second at Exeter in October and was running well until unseating at Ascot last time.
