Dominic West Grand National Tip (Saturday 15th April 2023)

Despite being far more well known as an actor who has starred in HBO’s The Wire and Netflix’s The Crown, Dominic West also has an interest in horse racing. The 53-year-old has offered his verdict for this year’s Grand National.

The Sheffield-born actor really likes the chances of the Nicky Henderson-trained Mister Coffey who will be ridden by Nico de Boinville. The 33-year-old has more Grade 1 winners than any British jumps jockey currently active.

  • MISTER COFFEY to win @ 40/1

Dominic West Tip At Aintree For The 2023 Grand National

Mister Coffey to WIN @ 40/1

Dominic West’s biggest fancy is the British-trained Mister Coffey for owners Lady & Alice Bamford from the Henderson yard. Mister Coffey comes to Aintree fresh off the back of a third place finish in the Amateur Jockeys’ Novices Chase at Cheltenham last month – placing behind only Gaillard Du Mesnil and Chemical Energy.

The 8-year-old ran in last year’s Grade 3 Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree, where he was the 5/1 favourite but finished 16th from 29 runners in a disappointing result. Nico de Boinville will be aiming for a better result on Nicky Henderson’s Bay Gelding this time around.

West said:

“I met Mr Coffey last week and fell for him instantly. He is tall, dark and handsome and as he gently nuzzled me, he told me he would win by 10 lengths.”

Nicky Henderson is seeking a first victory in the Aintree showpiece and Mister Coffey is his only runner in the world’s greatest steeplechase for horse racing’s biggest prize.
