Top Irish bookmaker BoyleSports has revealed it will splash out a €100,000 donation to the Injured Jockeys Fund should the Shark Hanlon-trained HEWICK win the Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 15th.

Injured Jockeys Fund To Strike Gold Should Hewick Win The Gold Cup

Full marks to top online betting site BoyleSports, who are pledging a staggering €100k to the Injured Jockeys Fund if bargain-buy and this season’s King George VI Chase hero HEWICK can strike gold at the Cheltenham Festival.

The potential donation works out around £85k and would be split equally between the Irish and British Injured Jockeys Funds.

Hewick is currently 14/1 with BoyleSports for the Cheltenham Gold Cup with the bookmaker hooking up with his trainer Shark Hanlon as their official stable sponsor.

The partnership will also allow BoyleSports to document Hewick’s road to the Gold Cup. A race he fell in 12 months ago when running well at the time.

Since that tumble Hewick has bounced back to win the Oaksey Chase at Sandown last April and came with a storming late run to land the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day at Kempton (watch below).

Hewick is also well-known for costing just €850 at the Gorebridge Sales in 2017 but has gone onto win €717k (£613k) in total prize money for his owner T J McDonald.

Trainer Shark Hanlon said

“Hewick is in great form and we can’t wait for our tilt at the Cheltenham Gold Cup. BoyleSports, a family-owned brand, is a great match for a stable like ours. And we’re delighted to have them on board as the excitement builds towards what we hope will be a memorable Cheltenham Festival and beyond.”

Head of communications and sponsorship at BoyleSports Sharon McHugh added “In Shark Hanlon we are teaming up with one of racing’s great characters. And it is a privilege to reward customers with exclusive access as one of his stable stars gets ready for the biggest stage.”

“Hewick’s rags-to-riches story has set him apart as the people’s horse. So we won’t be alone in cheering him on the road to Cheltenham glory, and hopefully there is another chapter to be written in his incredible story.”
