Saint George & Tower Of London Among Six Bahrain Trophy Runners

Half-a-dozen three-year-old colts clash in the Bahrain Trophy this year. Tower Of London has the breeding to go on to even greater things when stepped up in trip later in the season, so leading UK bookies have the Emerald Isle raider prominent in the betting.

Leading the home challenge among Bahrain Trophy runners is Saint George. He has already proven his stamina over further and brings Group 2 placed form to the table from his last start. Global owner-breeders Godolphin also have a runner at Newmarket races in the shape of Castle Way.

Dual Rowley Mile 1m 2f course winner including in Listed company on reappearance and latest. Out of the same dam as classy miler Palace Pier. Sire must provide stamina as he now makes a marked step up in trip for same owner and trainer responsible for Yibir, who won this in 2021.

Twice-raced this season and staying on runner-up in Listed event at Goodwood races over 1m 3f latest. Winner has since landed the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot last month. Of all Bahrain Trophy runners this year, open to the most progress. Each way player.

3. Land Legend

Unlucky in-running seventh in the King George V Stakes at the royal meeting latest. Yard won this 12 months ago with Deauville Legend despite having it all to do on ratings. Return to a smaller field a plus, for all he’s got to improve on bare form to get involved. Cannot be totally ruled out up in trip.

4. Saint George

Handicap winner over the St Leger course and distance at Doncaster races on penultimate outing. Wouldn’t go past determined winner when second in Queen’s Vase latest. Dropping back a furlong in trip no problem. One of the Bahrain Trophy runners that commands respect.

5. Think First

Maiden on turf, but dual All-Weather winner at Chelmsford as a juvenile. Well held on recent clashes with Saint George. The only one in the line-up that punters can rule out with any confidence.

6. Tower Of London

Full brother to 2017 Irish Derby and St Leger hero Capri. Hit form this summer with Listed 1m 4f victory at Leopardstown and Down Royal Premier Handicap success over this trip latest. None of the other Bahrain Trophy runners bred as well to stay or for this test. Leading contender up in grade.
