Arsenal fans have been rejoicing at news that Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhães have all been omitted from the latest Brazil squad in what could prove a huge boost to the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes.

A 4-0 hammering of Everton on Wednesday saw Mikel Arteta’s side move five points clear of champions Manchester City at the summit with 15 games of the season remaining.

Martinelli scored twice to overtake Bukayo Saka as Arsenal’s top scorer with 11 goals, while Gabriel and William Saliba celebrated yet another clean sheet.

Jesus has not featured since succumbing to injury during the World Cup but is progressing well in his recovery and could be seen back in action in the next two weeks.

The Brazil squad are set to get together in the last two of weeks in March, with a friendly against Morocco on 25 March the main focus of their international fortnight.

And much to Arsenal fans’ delight the 23 man squad named by Ramon Menezes does not feature any Gunners stars.

“Thank God for that. It would make me more confident if Partey is also not called up,” replied one happy Gooner.

“Another Edu masterclass. We need both Nelli and Gabriel to have full rest during these 2 weeks and be fully recharged for the title run in,” added another.

A third fan said: “I won’t lie, I’m delighted… The focus is the premiership and the last time cost us 110 days of  @gabrieljesus9

“You guys crack on as there will be many many chances for important caps for country @Arsenal”

“I feel bad for Gabriel Magalhaes but it’s better for our team in this last push for the title,” agreed a fourth.

Arsenal take on Bournemouth on Saturday as they bid to increase the pressure on title rivals Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Paul Merson has predicted a Manchester United win when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
